The stud was established over 25 years ago and occupies 30acres of pasture and woodland on the Hampshire/West Sussex border. The stud is owned by Margaret & Geoff Shawcross, who is a veterinary surgeon but retired from general practice.
The Gazaro name is derived from the first two letters of the three stallions that formed the basis of the stud, namely GAstador XII, ZAfiro and ROmero XXV. We lost both Gastador and Zafiro a few years ago when both were in their twenties and even Romero, who was the baby of the three, is now 23yo.
Geoff also gives lessons to riders on their own horse either here or their own school and our school-master horses are available for riders to improve their technique and give a feel for the advanced movements.
