Alto Habana
DoB 9.7.2009 15.3hh
Until recently, chestnut horses were not allowed to be registered in the Spanish Stud Book but the colour persisted, hidden behind the grey genes. This has made chestnut horses both uncommon and desirable. Habana was the first of several chestnut mares we wanted to acquire primarily to breed Palominos from our up-coming cremello colt, Mas Yaco. Until 'Yogurt' was old enough, we used Romero and Comico. In 2017 she was put in foal to Yogurt and had a palomino filly born May 2018. Her breeding on the sire's side is almost entirely by the famous Cardenas Stud and her dam was bred from bull-fighting strains, the most famous of which was Jardinero X who was the mount of Mel Gibson in the film, Braveheart!
