​Tess is an retired Polo Pony and is used to 'tease' the stallions when we want to train them for AI or collect semen samples for insemination.
She has no ovaries and so does not have oestrous cycles naturally. By giving her an oestrogen hormone by injection, she can made to appear to be in season to a stallion and she will display all the usual signs of a mare wanting to be covered.
Tess is one of the stud's greatest assets as we can train and collect from stallions at any time of the year.
